Having done much research about car rentals in Madeira, we decided to go with Madpoint & I’m so glad we did. The entire experience from start to finish was seamless- everything was explained thoroughly and the car was absolutely spotless.The garage of our hotel where we parked the car was extremely tight and unfortunately, my partner scraped the wheel arch. We whatsapped Madpoint who were extremely helpful and assured this was covered by our insurance. I would highly recommend purchasing the extra premium insurance for an extra €25 per day as the streets in Madeira are very tight.Overall, a very positive experience and will definitely be coming back to Madpoint when we return to Madeira.
We rented a Kia Picanto for 2 weeks, the rental process was very quick and easy. The staff explained the insurance Vs. deposit option in lots of depth to help us make our decision and we were able to extend our rental with the team without going into the office. We opted for the deposit option, the money was held on our credit card and released quickly once the vehicle was returned and the inspection was complete. The girls in the office are super friendly and kind, we would recommend their service to anyone visiting Madeira!

Very nice staff, fast processing even on a Sunday. Good vehicles at a fair and favourable price. The vehicles have a detailed damage report with pictures. The return worked smoothly and very quickly. Absolutely recommendable car hire without any problems. The contact with the car hire company also worked smoothly via WhatsApp.
Overall, we had a good experience with Madpoint, the airport shuttle system is very appreciated and useful. On the other hand, the company requires a deposit of €1900 on arrival. The amount must be paid with a single card when you have a single driver. For us (students in our twenties) the amount was too high for the limit of our credit cards, even combined. We were therefore forced to pay insurance of €25 per rental day which was not included in our budget. We understand the procedure and have a good experience in mind, but wish we had known this in advance.
I rented a car for a week, a very nice little new Kia to get around the island and explore the mountains!Regarding the staff, they are really very kind, welcoming, very accommodating.Pick up off the plane and drop off for the perfect return!I speak little English but the exchange is very good with their easy to understand tablet.If I come again I will rent from Madpoint again without hesitation
The entire rental process was incredibly smooth and efficient. The car pickup at the airport was handled with great professionalism. The rental company contacted me a few hours before my arrival to provide all the necessary details, which I greatly appreciated.I am truly impressed by the level of customer service. The car was modern, clean, without damage, comfortable, and powerful enough for the steep Madeira roads. We had initially booked with another hire company, but I changed to Madpoint because of the positive reviews which are accurate.The car (Volkswagen T-Cross) was equipped with parking sensors, reversing camera, wireless Apple CarPlay/Android Auto and good air conditioning.The pick-up/collection experience was smooth and the rep friendly. I picked up from the office on Rua Gorgulho and they were happy to pick the car up from the parking area of our Funchal hotel - I just left the keys at our hotel reception and collection was sorted. I received an email confirming no damage and full tank of fuel, which just required a digital signature.I have separate car hire excess insurance and there was no pressure to ‘upgrade’ to the company’s ‘Insurance Plus’, just remember to have a debit/credit card with enough funds/limit for the refundable deposit.All in all a great, friendly experience and I would be happy to use Madpoint again when we return to Madeira!
Great experience with them. Booked a reservation months in advance, was able to purchase additional insurance at pick up. Even though their websites says they close at 1800h, they stayed open until we arrived and got our car (past 1900). Staff were nice, the car itself was as advertised.If you go with the other big brand rental companies, you will probably have to hunt down a parking spot at the airport upon return of the car. Go with Madpoint and they will drop you off themselves.
Excellent communication and service from initial contact to rental return. Flying in and out of Madeira often involves delays - and my flights were no exception both at arrival and departure. The Madpoint team was accommodating and offered multiple ways to stay in touch, even after hours. The gentleman who picked us up at the airport was efficient and quite personable. His humour was appreciated after a bumpy landing.I aim to always support local when I travel but I admit I was a bit nervous booking a car with a smaller company. I’m SO glad I did! The car was new, and felt quite safe and stable even in challenging road conditions. My only advice to potential renters who plan on driving around the island is to splurge on a car with a bigger engine, it’ll help you on the climbs, and accept their insurance - I didn’t need it, but some areas of the island made me VERY glad I had it!Overall, highly recommended!!
We had an amazing experience with this rental company. The staff was extremely polite and super friendly and fun, and they also pointed us towards the best places to visit with the car.We got a Fiat Panda, and when I thought I overheated the brakes on the steep hills, they were extremely helpful, and I took it in on a Sunday for a quick check. The staff was again super friendly and gave me assurances.The car also had brand new parts, so the little Fiat was well maintained. Once I got used to it,it was a blast to drive it up and down the steep roads of Madeira. Highly recommend the company.
